Flexible UK immigration for recognised leaders and emerging leaders in academia and research, arts and culture, and digital technology.

The Global Talent Visa is designed for people whose work, achievements and future potential place them among the leaders—or potential future leaders—in their specialist field. Unlike most sponsored work routes, it does not normally require a job offer or sponsorship from a single employer.

You may be eligible if you are aged 18 or over and work in one of the following areas:

• Academia or research — including science, medicine, engineering, humanities and social science.
• Arts and culture — including eligible artistic, cultural and design disciplines.
• Digital technology — in a technical or business role within the product-led digital technology sector.

Most applicants must first obtain endorsement from the relevant endorsing body. Applicants who have won a prize specifically listed by the Home Office may be able to apply directly for the visa without endorsement.

• No requirement to remain with one sponsoring employer.
• Freedom to work as an employee, freelancer, self-employed professional or company director, subject to the visa conditions.
• Freedom to change jobs, clients or projects without notifying the Home Office.
• A visa period of up to five years at a time, with the possibility of extension.
• Eligible partners and children may apply as dependants.
• A possible route to settlement after three or five years, depending on the field and the basis of endorsement.

• Route assessment — identify the correct field, endorsing body and application pathway.
• Endorsement or eligible prize — most applicants prepare a specialist endorsement application; eligible prize winners may proceed directly.
• Visa application — after endorsement, submit the immigration application within the permitted timeframe.
• Residence and settlement planning — choose the visa duration and plan ahead for extension or settlement requirements.

A strong Global Talent application is more than a well-written CV. The evidence must show a clear professional identity, credible external recognition, an individual contribution to important work, and a trajectory consistent with the level claimed. The exact test differs significantly between the three fields and between endorsement pathways.

• assess referee suitability and prepare focused recommendation-letter guidance;

• prepare the endorsement and visa applications; and
• conduct a final consistency and risk review before submission.
